Image Editor Mode
The Image Editor mode (🖼️ icon in the Global Sidebar) is Fater's primary workspace for all 2D image creation, AI-powered generation, and detailed layer-based editing tasks. This is the default mode when you open a project.
Key Areas in the Image Editor
When you're in Image Editor mode, the main components of the Fater Editor are configured for image work:
Main Workspace Area (Center):
Interactive Canvas (
InpaintCanvas
): This is where you see and interact directly with your image layers. You can pan, zoom, move layers, scale layers, and use direct editing tools (like Pencil/Cutter).Masking Layer (
MaskCanvas
): Overlaid on the InpaintCanvas, this is where you draw and view your masks using tools from the Inpaint Toolbar.
Inpaint Toolbar (Floating Left of Canvas):
Provides quick access to tools specifically for image and mask manipulation within the canvas.
Includes: Masking tools (Brush, Rectangle, Lasso), direct layer editing tools (Pencil, Cutter, Eraser), mask manipulation actions (Clear, Invert, Inflate, etc.), canvas actions (Resize to Layer/Mask, Zoom Fit), AI preprocessing (Edges/Depth map generation), AI content removal, and image download.
(See Using Editing & Masking Tools for details on each tool.)
Left Sidebar (AI Configuration):
Model Selector: Browse and select the specific AI model you want to use for generation, editing, or upscaling from categorized lists (Generate, Edit, Upscale).
Model Parameters: Displays the specific controls and parameters (like Guidance, Steps, Style Type, etc.) relevant to the currently selected AI model.
Right Sidebar (Content & Settings):
Layers Tab: This is crucial for managing your image composition. View, select, reorder, rename, duplicate, delete, lock, and manage the visibility and opacity of all layers within the active Layer Workspace. Access Control Layer settings here. (See Working with Layers)
Settings Tab: Primarily used for interacting with the Agent (AI Assistant). Chat with the agent, manage custom agent configurations, and potentially use agent-driven actions like AI masking. (See Interacting with the Assistant)
Floating Prompt Area (Bottom Center):
Prompt Input: Enter your text descriptions for AI generation or editing. Supports voice input.
Generate Button: Initiate the selected AI model using your prompt, mask, layers, and parameters.
Generation Task List: Displays thumbnails of recent AI generation results for quick review and selection. Clicking a thumbnail adds it as a new layer.
Top Credits Display (Above Canvas):
A small display showing your organization's remaining credit balance, often visible floating near the top-center of the workspace.
Core Activities in Image Editor Mode:
Creating and managing multi-layered image compositions.
Drawing precise masks for selections.
Generating new images from text (Text-to-Image).
Editing existing images using AI inpainting/outpainting based on masks and prompts.
Guiding AI generation using Control Layers (Edges/Depth).
Upscaling image resolution and quality.
Preprocessing layers to create Edge/Depth maps.
This mode provides the most comprehensive set of tools for detailed visual creation and manipulation within Fater.
