Video Editor Mode
The Video Editor mode (🎬 icon in the Global Sidebar) provides a focused workspace within Fater for generating short video clips using specialized AI models.
Purpose
Switch to this mode when you want to:
Create video content from text prompts.
Animate a starting image based on a text description.
Generate video transitions between a start and end image (model dependent).
Manage and review the AI-generated video clips within your project.
Key Areas in the Video Editor
When Video Editor mode is active, the interface components are tailored for video generation:
Main Workspace Area (Center):
Video Canvas (
VideoCanvas
): This area functions primarily as a video player. When you select a generated video from the Videos Tab or the Generation Task List, it will be displayed here with standard browser playback controls (play, pause, seek, volume, fullscreen). There is generally no direct editing on this canvas itself.
Left Sidebar (AI Configuration):
Model Selector: Choose the AI model specifically designed for video generation.
Model Parameters: Adjust settings relevant to the selected video model (e.g., duration, guidance).
Input Image(s): Upload the required input images (typically a "Start Image", and sometimes a "Last Image" depending on the model).
Seed Control: Set the random seed for generation, if applicable.
Right Sidebar (Content & Settings):
Videos Tab: This is the primary tab used in this mode. It lists all the video clips generated or imported within your project. You can select videos (to view them in the
VideoCanvas
), rename, duplicate, delete, or potentially restore generation parameters from this list. (See Managing Videos)Settings Tab: Interact with the Agent (AI Assistant) for help or potential future video-related functions. (See Interacting with the Assistant)
(The Layers and Assets Tabs are generally not used directly in this mode's core workflow).
Floating Prompt Area (Bottom Center):
Prompt Input: Enter your text description for the video content or animation. Supports voice input.
Generate Button: Initiate the video generation process using the selected model, parameters, input image(s), and prompt. Video generation often takes longer than image generation and may involve background job processing. Most generations take several
Generation Task List: Displays thumbnails representing recent video generation tasks. Clicking a thumbnail selects the corresponding video in the Videos Tab and displays it in the
VideoCanvas
.
Core Activities in Video Editor Mode:
Uploading start/end images for video generation.
Writing prompts to describe desired video content or animation.
Selecting and configuring AI video generation models.
Initiating and monitoring video generation tasks (which may run asynchronously).
Viewing and playing back generated video clips.
Managing the list of generated videos in the project.
This mode leverages specialized AI to bring motion to your ideas within the Fater environment.
