Uploading Files

Fater allows you to bring your own content into the editor to use as base images, source images for AI generation, or potentially reference files. You can upload common image formats, and for specific workflows (like 3D reconstruction or scene setup), you may also upload other file types.

Methods for Uploading

There are several ways to upload files into the Fater Editor:

  1. Using Image Input Components:

    • Where: You'll find dedicated image input areas in various locations, such as:

      • The Left Sidebar in Asset Editor (for 3D Reconstruction source images).

      • The Left Sidebar in Video Editor (for Start/Last Frame images).

      • The Left Sidebar in Image Editor (for Reference Images, used by specific models).

      • The Settings Tab (for attaching images to Agent chats).

    • How:

      • Click: Click inside the designated input area (often showing an ImagePlus icon or existing previews). This will open your computer's file browser. Select the desired image file(s).

      • Drag & Drop: Drag image files directly from your computer folder and drop them onto the image input component area.

  2. Drag and Drop onto the Canvas (Image Editor):

    • Where: The main canvas area when in Image Editor mode.

    • How: Drag an image file directly from your computer folder and drop it anywhere onto the main canvas.

    • Result: Fater will automatically create a new layer containing the dropped image. (See Creating & Adding Layers)

  3. Using the "Add New Layer" Button (Image Editor):

    • Where: The + button at the top of the Layers Tab in the Right Sidebar (when in Image Editor mode).

    • Why: It can be usefull to create an empty layer in order to draw additionnal edges by hand instead of overriding the sub layers pixels.

Supported File Types

  • Images: Standard image formats like .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .webp, are generally supported for uploading as layers or inputs.

Important Considerations

  • Multiple Files: Some image inputs allow uploading multiple files at once (e.g., source images for 3D reconstruction), while others accept only a single file (e.g., Start Frame for video). Check the specific input area.

  • File Size: Be mindful of file sizes, especially for inputs to AI models, as very large files might affect processing time or encounter upload limits.
